My Training:
Hi, I’m Nita Gunn! I’m a Birth Boot Camp instructor and doula in Grapevine, Texas. My interest in women’s health began almost two decades ago in nursing school. I graduated from Vanderbilt University in 2007 with a Masters degree in Nursing with a specialty as a Family Nurse Practitioner. It has always been my passion to encourage wellness in women, children, and families.
Since then, I’ve become a mother to 5 of the funnest little people I know. I am thankful every day that God made me their mom. My personal experiences with birth have included induction, epidural, c-section, VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean), medication-free birth, homebirth, and waterbirth. Each one has been different. I learned that how you prepare and the way you are treated during this time matters! I certified as a Birth Boot Camp Instructor and Doula with the desire to empower families to get educated about birth, know their options, and have births they’ll love.
My Beliefs:
There is no one right way to give birth, but going with the flow doesn’t always give you the outcome you want. During your pregnancy you will make decisions that will affect you, your birth, and your baby. These decisions can help you have a healthy pregnancy and enjoy the day you meet your baby. It helps to have quality childbirth education, an encouraging support team, and a care provider who will partner with you to achieve the kind of birth you want. The moment you meet your baby is a once in a lifetime experience. I hope you can look back on that day and say, “That was the BEST day!”
